Trey Hanbury helps terrestrial and satellite companies secure, retain, and improve wireless spectrum and orbital resources. He also helps businesses navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment while working to promote market forces and combat anti-competitive regulatory gaming.
A co-chair of the firm’s Communications, Internet and Technology practice, Trey counsels wireless, satellite, internet, media and telecom companies as well as tech startups on regulatory policy and competition. He also negotiates commercial agreements, mergers, and acquisitions, and helps put communications resources to their highest and best use. As a technical and legal advisor, Trey counsels clients on compliance with regulatory requirements and helps persuades the people who make the decisions, whether at the FCC, the White House or Congress.
Clients benefit from Trey’s extraordinary telecom industry experience in government, business, and law spanning more than 25 years. He served as Director of Government Affairs at Sprint and held various policymaking positions at the FCC. Trey also served as Special Counsel in the Office of General Counsel, providing policy and legal advice to on wireless issues. Recently, Trey helped T-Mobile navigate the regulatory approval process in its major and highly contested $59 billion combination with Sprint.
