About Meara Habashi
Meara Habashi is the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. Meara works with leaders across UVA and the broader field of engineering to create a community that is truly inclusive, both across the UVA campus and beyond. Meara takes a research-based approach to providing innovative and effective solutions to issues of equity across higher education. Meara has built a diverse and extensive portfolio of administration, research, teaching, service, and engagement focused on dismantling systemic bias that serves as obstacles for women and members of underrepresented groups. Her research focuses on the internal and external obstacles underrepresented individuals face in educational and career settings. Meara received her PhD in Social Psychology from Purdue University.
